Keycard Reader

How a Key Card Reader Works

A key card reader is installed on the door.  To gain access, you tap, swipe, or insert (depending on the type of reader being used) the key card in the card reader.

There is an access credential embedded on the keycard magstripe or as a chip in the card itself. Once the reader recognizes the access credential, it then communicates with the door lock.

The smart access control reader will be wired to an electric lock on your door and it will send a signal to the lock to start an unlock event. With a good system, the whole process takes less than a second.

Keri Proximity Readers for Tucson

Connect Security is an authorized dealer of Keri Systems. Keri Systems is one of the world’s most popular providers of access control and integrated security systems, including Key Card Readers.

  • MS Readers

    MS Readers

Keri’s MS Series Proximity Readers are a family of readers that give superior performance in sleek, small, attractive packages. With over 10 years of experience as the founder of Indala and 25 years at Keri, their RF proximity expertise is unmatched.  Proximity Readers in the MS series include:

    • MS-3000 MicroStar – Mullion Mount (window or door frame)
    • MS-4000 Shooting Star – Vandal Resistant
    • MS-5000 MiniStar – Wall or Gang Box Mount
    • MS-7000 SuperStar – Medium Range
  • Proximity Reader

    Automatic Fire Detection Devices

NXT Readers provide a number of advantages over traditional Wiegand-output readers:

    • They communicate via RS-485, and so are supervised by the controller so that you always know their status
    • Cabling distance from the controller is doubled – up to 1000 ft (300m) – providing more flexibility in installation
    • Installers are able to use shielded Cat5/6 cable, thus reducing the cost of installation
    • Readers can be configured to read either NXT or HID cards

Besides Keri System, we also provide key card readers of other renowned brands such as Paxton, alarm.com, 2GIG, Bosch, Brinks, DMP Electronics, etc.

Keycard Reader

Benefits of Using Key Card Reader

  • You can configure and reconfigure access to your property using the same card. Whereas with metal keys, new keys need to be issued and old keys have to be returned.
  • Key cards require very sophisticated technology to create, so the chances of someone making a copy of a key card are very low.
  • Each card’s information is stored in a database. So if someone loses their card, you can remove that card from the database, making the actual card useless for anyone who might find it.
  • The clearance levels of individual cards can be altered instantly by a network operator. This means if you need to give temporary access to someone, for example, a guest staying at your home for a time, you can do that quickly and efficiently.
  • Key Cards can easily fit into your wallet or cardholder and provide remote deactivation capability
  • With key card readers, you can easily provide access to multiple doors and can provide restrictions for certain times, certain access levels, or even certain numbers of unlocks.

Types of Business Access Control Systems

Types of Business Access Control Systems in Tucson, & Phoenix

Cloud-Based Access Control

Cloud-based access control allows you to store access permission data and information in the cloud. This means that the administrator can manage the permissions from anywhere in the world! This makes overseeing and managing securities of multi-location facilities much easier.

Mobile/Smartphone-Based Access Control

Mobile, smartphone, or other mobile devices access control works on the same principle as mobile-accessed email. You have to download the access control app on your mobile device. Once authorized, users can do the same things; sign in with their user account, and as soon as their authorized keys appear, select which door to open.

IoT-Based Access Control

IoT is an integrated network of intelligent computing devices connected through the internet to communicate with each other without any human interference. It is the backbone of modern IoT access control systems. In this system, every lock, lock access controller, card reader, and other associated devices are assigned a separate IP address, which is used for communication among the devices.

Stand-Alone Access Control System

A standalone system is one of the simplest and most cost-effective access control systems. In this system, all of the equipment necessary to successfully secure an entrance is localized to the door, and access is granted upon the presentation of a valid code.

Discretionary Access Control (DAC)

This type of access control security is suitable for small premises (for example premises with one or two doors). With discretionary access control, the end-user has the means to determine security level settings by granting access to others by lending them their key card or telling them the predetermined code.

PC Networked System

With a PC networked system, all locally controlled doors are wired together creating a commutation path between them. This is controlled centrally by a PC running the relevant software required for your specific access control system.

We at Connect Security install all types of access control systems for businesses and premises of all sizes and types.

Mandatory Access Control (MAC)

In this access control system,  only the owner and system administrator have management control of the access system. With MAC, the administrator will typically classify each individual end-user and provide them with a status that allows them to gain entry through some points of access, but not others, based on established security guidelines. Mandatory Access Control is generally utilized in organizations that need an increased emphasis on the security and confidentiality of data, for example, a military institution.

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

With an RBAC system, access is determined by a system administrator and is based upon the end user’s role within a household or organization, therefore access privileges are defined by the limitations of their job responsibility. RBAC is the most sought-after access control system, highly demanded among households and business premises alike.

Door Entry Systems

Door Entry Systems are utilized in order to enable entry to visitors who cannot gain access through the Access Control System. For this, an entry panel is installed externally to the entrance, enabling visitors to request entry or call through a security team to communicate.

Oro Valley Access Control Brands

Like different types, there are also different brands that offer Access Control technologies such as Ring Doorbell, SkyBell Doorbell, and more. Connect Security can install, repair, and replace any brand of access control.

Connect Security Hard-Wired Intercom Systems

Hard-wired intercom systems are mostly installed during building construction. Like electrical lines, these intercom systems run wires into walls or elsewhere. The signal isn’t vulnerable to interference.

Connect Security Wireless Intercom Systems

It’s handy and convenient to use, and aids in communication among those from different departments in the corporate office setting without having to move around.

Automatic Gate Entry System

Connect Security Automatic Gate Entry Systems

Automatic gate entry intercom systems are very similar to other systems, apart from extra options. An automatic gate entry system has the ability to lock and unlock gates and doors remotely. Many also have CCTV that enables you to see who’s on the other end.

Connect Security Carrier-Current Intercom Systems

How to Stop Package Thieves

Stop Package Thieves/Porch Pirates in Tucson & Casa Grande , AZ

Intercom Icon

With the rise of online shopping and home delivery, package theft has become a growing problem across America.

Study shows nearly 40% of consumers have been victims of package theft and holiday shoppers in Arizona are the ninth most at-risk state.  Tucson outdid the state and was among the top 25 in the country for larceny thefts.

Installing simple security systems like outdoor cameras, smart doorbells, smart locks, motion sensors, etc. can greatly reduce the risk of porch pirates, and other larceny-theft from your doorsteps.

Connect Security provides state-of-the-art home security solutions to prevent package thefts in Amado, Tombstone, Eloy, Benson, and other Greater Tucson areas.

Fire Sprinklers

Protect Your Parcels from Porch Pirates

Porch pirates are always on the outlook for opportunities to steal your valuable packages. They come to your doorsteps, ring the bell to confirm no one is at home, and swipe away with the parcel.

Some even follow the delivery van to jot down targets. No sooner has the delivery man left, than the thief vanishes away with your parcel before you can even open the door.

More alarming is how they are coming up with new schemes to steal packages every day. Such as the incidence of a porch pirate pretending to be an Amazon employee wearing an Amazon vest to steal deliveries.

According to C+R Research’s Package Theft Statistics Report 2019,  the average cost to replace a stolen item is around $109. Add to that the additional hassle of contacting the seller, delivery service provider, and police, and the uncertainty of whether your stolen item could be found or the porch pirate would be caught at all.

All these financial and mental stress can be eased by installing an integrated home security system at your home.

Foil Porch Pirates from Stealing Packages in  Tucson, Arizona

Outdoor Cameras

Outdoor cameras with high definition video quality and night vision can give 24/7 surveillance of your entrance and surroundings up to several feet. This ensures you have a constant watch out for any burglary.

Doorbell Camera

82% of Americans believe doorbell cameras provide “peace of mind”.

When someone approaches your front door, doorbell cameras detect the motion and send you an alert through its free app so that you can have a real-time view from your Smartphone. If there is a potential thief that you are suspecting, you can use the two-way audio feature to warn them away.

Doorbell cameras can even record videos. So if you miss a porch pirate in the act, you will have clues and evidence for the crime and this will help you to retrieve your stolen package.

Smart locks

One way to significantly reduce package stealing is by getting the product delivered inside the house. This can be made feasible safely, without you having to be physically present at home, by installing a smart lock.

When the delivery driver rings your doorbell camera, triggering an alert on your Smartphone, you can see, communicate, and verify the person. Once verified, you can unlock the door from your phone and let him leave the package inside and then you can lock it again.

Professional Security Monitoring

Being at work it is not possible for you to keep checking up on your home every now and then. When on a family vacation the last thing you would want to do is worry about your parcel being stolen.

Professional monitoring stations monitor your home 24/7. So when an emergency alarm signal is received, a trained security professional assesses the situation and quickly alerts concerned authorities such as local law enforcement.
